Saeed Azarbayjani

Saeed Azarbayjani, 2008 Olympian (tenth at Beijing, 60 kg freestyle), transformed himself into a leading university head coach. Immediately after retiring from competition, Azarbayjani gained varied experience: assistant coach at Western University and previously at Brock University, sharpening his understanding of systematic athlete development.

Named head coach of the wrestling program at Ryerson University in June 2014, Azarbayjani revitalised the program, founding a competitive team in 2015. Through the institutional transition to Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) he remained head coach of the program. Beyond his university duties, Azarbayjani serves as a coach at national training camps and continental selections (2025 Senior Pan American Championships).

His approach combines technical excellence and personal development, establishing TMU as a reference university program in Canadian wrestling.
