Career

Chris Woodcroft (born March 14, 1965 in Hamilton, Ontario) embodies the transition from Olympic athlete to education leader and Canadian sport executive. Following a wrestling career that saw him represent Canada at the 1988 (Seoul) and 1992 (Barcelona) Olympics, Woodcroft compiled a record of continental medals: gold at the 1986 Commonwealth Games, silver at the 1987 Pan American Games and bronze at the 1991 Pan American Games.

In education, Woodcroft served as principal of Resurrection Catholic Secondary School in Kitchener before becoming superintendent of secondary education at the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board. In 2015 he received Canada’s Outstanding Principal Award, one of 40 Canadian educators so honoured that year.

Appointed High Performance Director at Wrestling Canada Lutte, Woodcroft brings a dual expertise of athletic excellence and educational leadership. His current role places him at the heart of the development strategy for Canada’s national Olympic wrestling program.
