Biography
Korey Jarvis embodies the athlete who combines Olympic competition with a civilian career, working as a welder. Born October 4, 1986 in Elliot Lake, Ontario, Jarvis stands as one of Canada’s leading heavyweight freestyle wrestlers (125 kg). A Conestoga College graduate in welding engineering, he has balanced a demanding dual career.
Unbeaten Canadian national champion for three consecutive years in both freestyle and Greco-Roman, Jarvis is the only wrestler to have achieved that feat. Gold medallist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games (Glasgow) at 125 kg, he qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics where he finished eighth. His last major appearance was seventh place at the 2017 World Championships (Paris) at 125 kg.
After a distinguished thirteen-year international wrestling career, Jarvis announced his retirement. His path reflects the balance of sporting excellence and steady professional work — the wrestler-worker archetype who sacrifices for his passion.
