Biography

Dorothy “Dori” Yeats represents a new generation of elite Canadian wrestlers, heiress to her father’s Olympic résumé. Born July 29, 1993, she discovered wrestling late after a gymnastics career that lasted until age 14. Convinced that wrestling — rather than gymnastics — offered a clearer path to a top podium, she threw herself fully into the sport.

Yeats’s rise was remarkably fast, becoming national champion just six months after beginning serious training. She won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games (Glasgow) at 69 kg, gold at the 2015 Pan American Games (Toronto) after recovering from an ACL tear, and silver at the 2012 World Championships. At Rio 2016 she reached the bronze-medal match but finished fifth.

Yeats also competed at the Youth Olympic Games (Singapore 2010). A smart and resilient athlete, she represents the family wrestling legacy while forging her own trajectory of excellence.
