Biography

Arjan Singh Bhullar embodies the intersection of Olympic wrestling and mixed martial arts at the highest international level. Born May 13, 1986 in Vancouver, the Indo-Canadian wrestler became the first Canadian wrestler of South Asian descent to represent Canada at the Olympic Games (2012). He remains a source of pride for South Asian communities across North America.

In wrestling, Bhullar was CIS national champion (2009) and represented Canada at seven World Championships (2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015) as well as the 2010 Commonwealth Games (gold at 120 kg) and the 2007 Pan American Games. A two-time NAIA champion, he compiled an impressive collegiate record before transitioning to mixed martial arts.

After retiring from wrestling, Bhullar became ONE Championship heavyweight world champion (a major global MMA promotion), the first fighter of Canadian/Indian descent to win an MMA world title. A co-founder of the UFV Cascades training team, he also manages the family-run Bhullar Wrestling Club, continuing to promote excellence in his original sport.
